Description
In the Line of Fire portrays the emotional and spiritual weight carried by those who have experienced combat. The painting reveals both the visible battlefield and the invisible struggle that continues long after the war is over.
Figures stand in the foreground while above them a powerful angelic presence stretches its wings across the sky. Fire, shadow, and light move together across the canvas, symbolizing the chaos of war alongside the protection and hope that comes from a higher place.
This work speaks to the reality of trauma, the courage of those who serve, and the promise that even in the darkest moments, protection and hope remain.
Artist Inspiration
The terror and fear that can surface at any moment through memories or triggers is something few people truly understand unless they have lived through it. Combat-related PTSD carries unique challenges, as soldiers often face experiences where they are both witnesses to and participants in unimaginable situations.
Many veterans carry deep burdens—guilt, hypervigilance, depression, and the struggle to return to everyday life after what they have seen.
This painting was created to bring awareness to that hidden suffering and to honor the strength of those who carry these battles within themselves. It is also meant to remind both veterans and their families that hope still exists.
Scripture
The hope reflected in this painting comes from the promise found in Psalm 91:
**“He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night
