The Renewing Series
The Lord spoke to my heart to create a Renewing Series during a season when my soul felt heavy and my heart was broken. Yet even in that place, I could still see the beauty that God had placed within me and within others.
Out of that journey came this three-part series — a reflection of the process of healing, transformation, and renewal that God brings into our lives.
“He restores my soul.”
— Psalm 23:3
Part 1 — Healing
This piece represents the beginning of restoration, where brokenness meets the gentle work of healing. It reflects the moment when God begins mending what has been wounded and bringing comfort to the heart.
Part 2 — Transformation
In this stage my mind began to change. My thoughts shifted, and I started learning to see life through truth, hope, and goodness. It reflects the renewing of the mind and the quiet transformation that happens from within.
“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
— Romans 12:2
Part 3 — Renewed
Like a butterfly emerging after transformation, this final piece reflects renewal — a place of beauty, freedom, and peace. It represents the strength and new life that God brings after walking through healing and change.
“They who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength.”
— Isaiah 40:31
This series captures the journey from brokenness to restoration, revealing how healing, transformation, and renewal unfold step by step.

I am Born and raised in the Netherlands, and we have many beautiful flowers in our country.
But the Dutch are famous for their tulips.
I love that those flowers are flourishing in the wild of Alaska, it makes me feel at home in a country so far away from my homeland.
Nature in Alaska is one of a kind and is not compared to any other place.
These tulips combined with the purple glowing Alaskan mountains are a perfect picture that you can flourish anywhere. Flourishing is a concept that goes beyond personal well-being and can be defined as “a relative attainment of a state in which all aspects of a person’s life are good, including the context in which that person lives.”
It’s about thriving personally while also considering the well-being of others and the environment around us.
That is how I feel living as a native Dutch in Alaska.

Alaska is famous for our Ravens, and if you look close they are actually blue!
Many Native Alaskan beliefs depict the Raven as a “trickster” spirit. Long recognized as one of the most intelligent birds.. They are found everywhere in Alaska and adapt to very different terrain, from deserts to mountains- a feat requiring high intelligence.
Alaska ravens are strong fliers that can hover in place like American kestrels or soar like a hawk. They may fly like stunt pilots at times, doing partial barrel-rolls in flight. I am intrigued by these very beautiful and inteligent birds, as a pilot myself I want to make those barrel-rolls and fly like them, not worrying about anything and let the wind take you to new places.

The Arrival of Cranes in Alaska is a remarkable event, signaling the change of seasons.
Every year when the cranes arrive in Alaska, they visit me in front of my painting room, dance around and make this beautiful sound. It excites me because tit tells me it’s the change of season.
Coming out of the long dark cold winter months into the endless summer.
Alaska is called “Land of the midnight sun” and it’s for this very reason I love it here so much.
This midnight sun and the wildlife that comes to visit makes up for the long dark and cold winter months, which has its own beauty and colors.
I created this painting as a reminder that out of the darkness we will see the light.

The original names of places by indigenous people were given for many reasons and speaks to the deep relationship with the environment. To know, use and understand the meaning of the names is an honor to the land and acknowledges the vital importance of these roots in today’s vastly changing world. My Honor to this High and Mighty Mountain started with a illustration and Mural Design. We have a remote cabin that is facing this Mighty High Mountain and to capture its spirit and beauty, I painted it on the back of the cabin so we can still face it while we are enjoying our campfire.

The Steller’s Jay, known scientifically as Cyanocitta stelleri. These birds are recognized for their bold, inquisitive nature and their striking blue coloring. They are intelligent and noisy, often heard before they are seen due to their harsh, scolding calls. Steller’s Jays are also known for their ability to mimic the sounds of other birds and animals.
In Alaska, they are year-round residents and can be frequently spotted at local bird feeders, exploring the forest canopy with measured wing beats or hopping decisively on the forest floor in search of food Their presence adds a vibrant touch to the Alaskan wilderness. If you’re in mountainous areas of Alaska, keep an ear out for their distinctive calls and an eye out for their beautiful crest and blue feathers.

This is No.1 Of my series: Consider the Birds!
I was inpired to paint the birds in our Fathers hand, as a reminder that we do not have to Worry, because our Father in Heaven takes care of us, and worrying does not extend your life or change outcomes. Instead cast all your cares upon Him, because He cares for you!
Look at the birds flying about! They neither plant nor harvest, nor do they gather food into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they are? Matt 6:26

The zebra's pattern is a sort of camouflage that helps it hide from predators. Imagine that you can only see black, white and shades of gray. Zebras often travel in large herds, and when they are together, the patterns of each zebra’s stripes can blend with those of the zebras around it. This creates a confusing visual effect for predators, making it difficult for them to target a single animal.

Heavenly Horses
Mixed Media on Fine Art Paper
23 × 30 inches
Inspired by 2 Kings 6:17, Heavenly Horses captures a moment where the unseen becomes visible—where strength, movement, and divine presence converge. The composition carries a sense of urgency and power, as the horses emerge through layered washes of color and expressive mark-making, suggesting both motion and revelation.
Executed on fine art paper, this original piece combines fluid abstraction with controlled detail, allowing the viewer to experience both energy and stillness within the same frame. The use of mixed media creates depth and texture, while the bold palette—anchored by deep reds, warm earth tones, and luminous undertones—draws the eye into the narrative.
This work is a one-of-a-kind original, created to evoke emotion and invite personal interpretation. Whether viewed as a symbol of protection, strength, or awakening, Heavenly Horses carries a presence that transforms the space it inhabits.

Inspired by the pink morning light over Denali
A moment of transition, where darkness gives way to light.
As we come out of darkness and into the light….
Winter still lingers, but something is shifting.
Thers’s a moment in Alaska —-when the pink morning light returns, soft, powerful, full of promise.
It’s the glow that tells us summer is near. The light that makes the mountains come alive.
That GLOW…….I captured in this piece —- and turned it into something you can wear.
More than a hoodie, this is wearable art.
A reminder—-soft, steady, certain… we are almost there.
